A Summer Recap & What’s Ahead For Sunrise Therapies

As summer winds down, we’ve been reflecting on what an incredible season it has been for our Sunrise Therapies community. This summer, we were reminded again and again of the power of connection, movement, and joy whether out in the waves, at the splash pad, up in the mountains, or in the heart of our sessions. These moments weren’t just fun they supported sensory integration, motor planning, and confidence in the most meaningful ways.
Riding the Waves 🌊
We kicked things off with not one, but two unforgettable surf events partnering with our friends at San Diego Surf School and Buenos Olas Surf. These days were about so much more than surfing: they were about courage, laughter, and watching bodies and brains sync in the most beautiful ways. Families showed up fully, and our surfers left the water not only with salty hair and sandy smiles but with a renewed sense of confidence and possibility.
Exploring Play & Therapy in Community 🛝
This summer also took us to so many vibrant treatment locations. From indoor playgrounds to splash pads and pools, to wide open spaces like the ranch, and lastly a reptile store; our sessions continued to honor the importance of real-world exploration in naturalistic treatment locations. Each setting gave the individuals we support fresh opportunities to activate their motor planning, tap into their cognitive motor control, practice regulation, and most importantly experience joy. We’re always reminded that therapy doesn’t need to be confined within four walls; some of the most meaningful growth happens out in the world.
Looking Ahead ✨
As we roll into the fall, we’re not slowing down. Here’s a peek at what’s ahead for Sunrise Therapies:
Teva Event – We’re excited to be part of this upcoming gathering, bringing together movement, community, and empowerment. 🫶🏼
Autistically Inclined Camps – More opportunities are on the horizon for campers and families to come together in supportive spaces where everyone is celebrated just as they are. We are going to dive in a bit deeper to share our perspecitive on these camps in additional blog post so be on the look out. 👀
Poway Rodeo – You’ll find us cheering and connecting at this event in our cowgirl boots. Come say hi as we support Sam’s Posse! 🐴
Taca Conference- Join us for this amazing learning opportunity where you will hear from the autistic individuals themselves, their families and a multitude of professionals providing resources, tools and actionable information!
A Season of Gratitude 🌅
This summer reminded us that when we come together in the waves, at the garden, or on the big tree swing, we create moments that matter. Thank you to every family, partner, and friend who joined us. Your energy, trust, and joy continue to shape everything we do.
