Intentional Motor Coaching
In The Moment Support for Apraxic Autism Families
Intentional Motor Workouts are designed for families who want to go deeper into movement-based support and do it with guidance, not guesswork.
These live, virtual sessions allow our trained therapists to observe your child and guide you through real-life motor challenges as they happen. You’ll learn how to break down movements, coach your child’s body in the moment, and adjust your support based on what you’re seeing and feeling together.
For many families, this is the next step after coaching, a more immersive experience that pairs real-time observation with hands-on practice.
During our Intentional Motor Workouts, your coach will observe and support you in real time as you support your apraxic loved one’s body through motor tasks.
What to Expect
Our virtual Intentional Motor support package includes:
5 intentional motor sessions with you and your apraxic loved one (50 minutes each)
These are live Google Meet video sessions where your therapist will guide you through setting up a motor routine or working through a task. They will be able to watch what’s happening in real time, which allows them to help you adjust your support in the moment and coach you if any challenges arise.5 caregiver-only consults (30 minutes each)
These follow-up calls are for parents, CRPs, or team members to reflect, plan, and process, without the individual needing to be present. This is where you can ask questions, clarify strategies, and prepare for the next workout. The individual is welcome to join, as long as everyone feels they are able to show up best for learning and discussion.3 personalized video feedback reflections
Submit a video between sessions, and your designated coach will review and send tailored feedback to keep progress moving forward.Google Classroom access
All your session summaries, video recordings, handouts, and resources are stored here, so your entire support team can stay aligned.Support between sessions
You’ll have access to your therapist via email, text, and classroom to keep the work going between calls.
Why IM Workouts Are So Beneficial to Families
Sometimes, the most helpful support comes in the middle of the moment, not before or after. We work through foundational movements patterns and evolve from there to meet the specific needs of your loved one. This isn’t a cookie cutter workout program, we can promise you that! In fact, we don’t want it to be that way, because then things become automatic, which is exactly the opposite of intentional movements!
Intentional Motor Workouts are designed to give you exactly that: Live, guided coaching during movement tasks that challenge your child’s body and nervous system.
When our therapists are able to observe what's unfolding in real time—how your child is responding, how their body is moving, where the breakdown is happening—it allows them to offer highly specific, in-the-moment strategies that are often hard to revisit later through discussion alone.
Here’s How To Get Started
Not sure if IM Workouts are the best fit for your family? That’s exactly what our free intro call is for. You don’t have to decide on the best package right now—we’ll figure that out together.
In this free 15-minute call, Erin will:

Frequently Asked Questions
-
All calls are held via secure Google Meet video link. You’ll receive the link in your confirmation email. No account is needed to join.
-
You don’t need to have everything perfectly set up, these sessions are designed to meet you right where you are. That said, there are a few things that can help us get the most out of your Intentional Motor Workout:
Choose a space where you and the individual is comfortable moving
Have a few items nearby that you typically use during movement (e.g., chair, step stool, cushion, preferred fidgets or sensory supports)
Bring any specific routines or challenges you’d like to work through
Make sure your device is positioned so we can clearly see your child’s body and the interaction space
After your intro call or first session, we will guide you through what to focus on and how to set up your space based on what we observe and work through. You’ll never be expected to figure it all out on your own, this is a collaborative process from the very start.
-
Yes, for Intentional Motor Workouts, the individual is present during the bi-weekly workout sessions. These are live, interactive video calls where we observe and support you and the individual in real time as they move through routines, transitions, or other motor-based tasks. We will guide you through how to support their body as challenges arise, helping you adjust in the moment.
There are also separate non-movement focused consult calls included in the package. Those sessions offer space to reflect, ask questions, and plan ahead.
-
Yes, absolutely. If you'd like a CRP, co-parent, or another team member to join the call with you, just let us know and we can share the log on link!

What Makes This So Effective
The power of this model is in the timing.
When Erin can observe your child in action—attempting a motor task, navigating a transition, or responding to a prompt—she can help you understand what’s working, what’s getting in the way, and how to shift your approach in real time.
These aren’t hypotheticals. You’ll be working through actual challenges, with feedback and guidance that adapts to what’s unfolding in the moment.
-
Caregiver coaching calls are powerful, personalized video chats, focused on reflection, strategy, and support without your loved one actively moving and working out, and sometimes not even present for our calls.
Intentional Motor Workouts add a second layer: interactive, movement-based sessions where your loved one is present, and where coaching happens in real time.
Both are grounded in the same apraxia-affirming philosophy. Which one is right for your family depends on what kind of support you need right now.

Understanding Apraxia and Our Full-Body, Neurodiversity-Affirming Approach
Many families come to us because something finally clicks: A video, a blog post, a Rise Up episode… something we said described your lived experience in a way nothing else has.
“This sounds like my loved one. This explains what we’ve been seeing.” But then the question becomes: Now what?
Let’s start by getting clear on what apraxia means and how we actually support it.
What is Apraxia?
Apraxia is a motor planning difference. It affects how the brain plans, sequences, and executes movements—including speech, gestures, play, transitions, daily tasks, and more.
Unlike developmental delays or muscle weakness, apraxia isn’t about not knowing what to do; it’s about the disconnect between intention and execution.
A child who understands everything but struggles to show what they know
A body that freezes, bolts, or resists—even during familiar routines
Repetitive or looping behaviors that are hard to interrupt or shift
Motor responses that seem inconsistent, unreliable, or unpredictable
Moments of clear connection or communication that feel hard to replicate
For many non-speaking or unreliably speaking autistic individuals, apraxia isn’t just about speech; it’s about the whole body. And when the body doesn’t cooperate, everything gets harder: regulating emotions, showing understanding, initiating communication, even participating in play, leisure, or daily routines.
Why We Take a Whole-Body Approach
Traditional models often miss the mark. They focus heavily on verbal output, compliance, or surface-level behaviors without addressing the underlying motor planning, regulation, and nervous system needs.
Our coaching takes a different approach. One that’s rooted in real-life experience, neurodiversity-affirming practices, and a belief that every human is capable, even when their body says otherwise.
How We Support Apraxia Differently
In your coaching call, we’ll look at your loved one’s specific challenges—and give you real, doable strategies based on four core pillars:
1. Motor Coaching
We help you break down complex movements into small, specific steps with cues and strategies that make movement easier for an individual whose body often doesn’t respond intentionally.
2. Nervous System Regulation
Before an individual can act, engage, or learn, they need to feel safe in their body. We show you how to co-regulate with your loved one, reduce overwhelm, and build connections that support nervous system safety and readiness.
3. Presuming Competence
We work from the belief that your loved one is intelligent, aware, and capable, even if they can’t always show it yet. Our approach is about opening access, not forcing outcomes.
Still Uncertain? That’s ok!
We know this information can feel incredibly complicated and confusing, but we're here to help! The good news is, you don’t need to have it all figured out before booking a call! We’re here to help you understand what apraxia is, so you can start supporting your loved one with confidence and compassion.
No-pressure call. We’ll chat through the best option for your family.
